Plastic Membership Cards

A membership card is an amazing way to make people feel part of your club and lets them not have to remember pesky details like their membership number or your phone number.

These cards are usually the size of a normal credit card, and a lot of clubs also have a key tag added so that members can also have their details with them on their key rings.

Plastic cards are much more robust than paper so will stand the test of time with durability.

The cards themselves would need to be worthy of your members so getting your design right, to show off your club in the best light is important and think about how your cards are going to stand out so that your member feel part of your membership club.

You need to think about a couple of things before you introduce a plastic membership cards scheme into your club.

The first thing is to think about what needs you have as a club and what is your end goal since that will then dictate what information you need on your cards and the end design of the card.

You can add anything you want to your membership card design, like your address or if you are hard to find a small map of where you are.

Names and the membership number can be added to the cards and if done in bulk is not a costly exercise which could also be posted out to the clients to receive at home.

A lot of the smaller membership clubs would not have a need for names to be added to their membership cards and often just have a unique number on the cards and a signature panel when it comes to the membership card printing, so that they can be issued as and when needed without the costs involved of printing of individual names one at a time.

With larger users it’s possible to have plastic membership cards sent to the members each week/day then they can be printed out on existing cards with the individual details and why not post them out with a nice covering letter letting them know the benefits of being a member.

Your local gym might need to know who has entered and who has left the premises or maybe even use the barcode/QR code to open your locker. They usually have high turnover of existing and new clients.

If they have a scanning system in place a barcode or QR code can be added to the cards so that they can be scanned by their existing POS system.

The name of the client on the cards is not really that important since their computer system holds that data.

They would normally just purchase in bulk with the barcode or magnetic stripe and membership number on the cards and then just hand out at the till points. Then reorder when you are getting low on stock.

Standard cards are the same size as any credit card you would have in your possession 85mmx54mm.

Ours are 760mic thick (just below 1mm thickness) which again is pretty much the same as any standard bank card.

Our membership cards are made of PVC solid core plastic, we use at least 80% recycled plastic.

Yes, most of our cards are made from at least 80% recycled plastic and are fully recyclable.

To give you an example our waste plastic is sent to be used to make underground pipes. If you want to recycle your cards, you would need to check with your local council to be safe and any problems you can always send these back to us to recycle them for you.

Don’t worry we have talented designers who will be happy to put your artwork together.  What you will need to do is give us a brief i.e., what sort of layout you’re looking for, any pictures, logos, any specific font sizes any specific you’re needing.

If you are supplying the artwork, please note the following:

• Finished card trim size = 85mm x 54mm. We need 3mm bleed on all sides so full dimensions, with bleed = 91mm x 60mm.
• Please send native ‘layered’ file, e.g., background on one layer, text on another layer, additional images on additional layers.
• If you are unable to provide native format, then please supply as a flat EPS with all fonts outlined (converted to shapes).
• Please supply all fonts used in your artwork.
• All images in artwork must be CMYK and 300 dpi is a must. All text must be 3mm away from the trimmed edge.
• Please check size of files you are emailing and if needed zip or stuff if needed.

Yes you can have numbers, pick any font and size. Can be gold, silver, black or white as standard.

The short answer is YES, you will need to provide the names in an excel format all at that time. We can also provide a service where we hold cards and then send out in batches for those having people added later.

We can print any type of barcode, all you need to tell us is the type of barcode and the number range. You will need to check with your system POS provider which barcode numbers you need as per your system that will be loaded up.

No, a barcode or magnetic stripe hold a string of numbers/letters which your system reads and it is your system that would hold whatever information that relates to that string of numbers/letters.

Yes, we do either LoCo or HiCo and can encode onto track 1 or 2, with the data you give us. Often you would need to check with your systems POS provider, who will let you know what type and which track is needed.

Of course, we have a mailing system service where we attach cards to letters and send out directly.

Yes, and not a problem but be aware that new tools would need to be made for a specific shape and only cost effective unless it is a relatively large order.

Standard cards are gloss finish, but a Matt finish can be achieved in plastic membership card printing when requested.

We would always work with you so that extras can be achieved within your budgets and some popular extras would be Hotfoil (making your logo gold or silver etc), Spot UV (one area slightly raised and shiny), Signature panels, Foil edges for cards (Silver or Gold foil as standard on the edges of the cards) we are always happy to chat about different ways for your cards to pop.

It will depend on the spec of the card, how many and any special features.  We will always try to produce in a timely manner and depending on what’s involved for the order, our standard turnaround is 10 – 15 working days, but we have express options.
